The Eagles chief is hoping their top striker will recover from his injury soon and has urged the on-loan striker to start scoring
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has urged Ghana striker Jordan Ayew to take up his chances in the absence of Christian Benteke who has been ruled out for several months.Benteke suffered a knee injury last month and underwent a minor surgery on Tuesday, with the results suggesting he could to return to full fitness in January.
The Palace chief wants Ayew and other forwards to start banging in goals in the absence of the Belgian international, following the club’s struggles to hit the back of the net so far this term.“You will get them [injuries], and other people [like Ayew and Connor Wickham] have got to take their chances,” Parish said as quoted by The Chronicle Live.
“Christian [Benteke] will come back, and hopefully he might come back sooner, and we are hopeful that with a fair wind we might get him back before January.
“These things aren’t always an exact science, timing wise, so we are hopeful that we may get him back sooner, and of course we have Connor [Wickham], who came back against Dulwich, and Alex [Sorloth] and Jordan [Ayew], so we have got other players who have got to step up and take their chance,” he added.Aside Ayew, who joined the Eagles from Swansea City on loan, the remaining Palace’s strikers have a goal either in the Premier League or a Cup competition.
Palace will be hoping to end their winless run as they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
